Item Accessibility in Institutional Repositories(2020-08) Waugh, Laura; Lyon, Colleen; Shelton, Abigail; Park, Kristi; Hicks, William; Lindsey, NerissaReport on findings from a survey conducted in Fall 2019 to gauge accessibility practices for digital content made available in institutional repositories. For the purpose of this study, we focus on the digital content collected in institutional repositories and workflows at academic libraries, rather than the websites and software platforms. This study is intended to establish a baseline measurement of current accessibility practices in hopes that studies such as this will help inform the wider community of the challenges and obstacles faced by institutional repository mangers and staff in ensuring accessibility to content. Anonymized data from this survey is available in the Texas Data Repository. https://doi.org/10.18738/T8/LUGYPOItem Alkek Library Web Usability Study Report(2005-06) Ogbaa, Clara; Kilman, Leigh; Ancelet, Lisa; Fisher, LorinWeb usability testing conducted on June 2 and June 6, 2005. Actions include creation of journal databases, linking URLs on bibliographic records with the corresponding URLs in the subscribed electronic journals database through Journal ID numbers, and development of a specialized search engine to search by a variety of search keys three different databases: 1) Subscribed electronic journals collections, 2) electronic journals in full-text databases, and 3) printed/microform journals.Item LibAnswers Question Analysis and Training Plan for Research and Learning Services, Alkek Library(2019-04) Ancelet, Lisa; Klemcke, Mavis; Foreman, LauraAn analysis of the SpringShare reference management tool, RefAnalytics, Statistics dataset was conducted which covered the Academic Year (AY) 2017-2018. The dataset originally consisted of over 18k questions and answers that originated from the various service desks that are part of the Research and Learning Services Division and Round Rock Library. These include: Librarian Office (Alkek & RRC), Research and Information, Periodicals-Media, Government Information, Circulation and Stacks Management. For the purposes of this project and training plan, all questions answered at the Round Rock Campus (RRC) Library were excluded from this analysis.Item TDR Survey of Institutional Dataverse Liaisons(2019-02) Chan-Park, Christina; Waugh, Laura; Lindsey, Nerissa; McElfresh, Laura Kane; Tmava, AhmetThe Texas Data Repository (TDR) Steering Committee's Assessment Working Group (AWG) is tasked with evaluating the progress of the TDR. In Fall 2017, the AWG began an assessment to identify the needs for reporting on the TDR by addressing the following research questions: (1) Which usage and descriptive information about the TDR will be most valuable? (2) What process for gathering and distributing these metrics/information will be most useful? The AWG administered a survey to aid in prioritization of assessment needs for the TDR Dataverse. The purpose of this survey is to identify the levels of institutional capacity at member institutions and provide recommendations on future assessment needs, metrics, and reporting moving forward. Data from this assessment is structured to anticipate potential usage of the TDR Dataverse and guide future work and needs in assessment, training, and continued growth. Because the most valuable usage metrics should allow for comparative assessment across repositories globally, the AWG also compiled descriptions of metrics recommended by three sources which suggest best practices for tracking the impact of research data, including the Make Data Count Project's "Code of practice for research data usage metrics." The results from this compilation of best practices has been combined with the results of the survey to determine a prioritized list of metrics.
