Abstract

This work employs a rhetorical textual analysis of Victorian women’s periodicals to determine where modem ideas about social roles for women originated, how they have historically been communicated to women through the popular medium of the periodical press, and how those social roles have shaped the reception and definition of instructive and scientific material today within the context of technical communication studies.
