Abstract

In this thesis, I claim that applying Whiteness Theory to instruct a composition class will allow students to understand their subjectivity, and this understanding may in turn improve their writing. To make this argument, I provide examples of two assignments that use Whiteness Theory will allow instructors and students to analyze societal situations to gain a better understanding of their own subjectivity and rhetorical devices.
