Abstract

On two research trips to the National Library in Madrid, Spain (July and December 2006), I spent five weeks studying discourse of women's reading in 18th-century conduct books and education manuals for women. I purchased a laptop computer to aid my research. I will use this material as background for several articles and as primary material for a book on the cultural impact of women's literacy in 18th-century Spain.
