Abstract

I have completed approximately three quarters of the research /application that I proposed in my grant, which I had originally submitted as a two-year project; therefore, I am submitting a progress report to date. I have produced the following: 1) successfully completed the first summer (2005) of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies Certification program at the University of Utah; 2) created a two-day workshop, Contact Improvisation: Integrating Laban Movement Analysis As Creative Connection. In the workshop for ten professionals (including Texas State faculty) and two Texas State senior students, I integrated the two different pedagogical approaches and collected pre and post surveys, journals, and evaluative feedback forms; and 3) wrote a thirty page report on the findings of the workshop as partial requirements for certification. I will attend the second summer (June 15 - August 19) session at the University of Utah to complete requirements for certification. In the fall we will prepare materials for cognitive and experiential seminars at professional conferences. Due to the nature of academic performing arts, those conferences will most likely be held in the spring.
