Abstract
The National Laboratory Training Network (NLTN), in cooperation with faculty from academia, federal and state public health laboratories, and industry, developed and presented a Public Health Series Course on molecular diagnostics in the clinical laboratory for scientists working in state health laboratories. The course content included theory and application of selected nucleic acid-based procedures. Participants reported that their understanding of and ability to perform molecular diagnostic assays improved as a result of attending the course. Information from the course was used to make changes in the operations of the participants' home laboratories.
