Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to describe the barriers to the adoption of Web 2.0 applications for enhancing contract monitoring. Based on the literature, concepts of contract monitoring are described, and Web 2.0 applications are suggested to potentially enhance contract monitoring.
Methodology: Since contract monitoring is not a standardized process, direct feedback from professionals in the field would provide the most accurate depiction of the viability of using Web 2.0 applications for enhancing contract management. All interviewees provided open-ended responses during their interviews.
Results: Responses from project managers showed that the main barriers to adoption are security and a lack of familiarity with the Web 2.0 applications view them as a viable method to enhance contract management. Project managers believe that the use of Web 2.0 applications could increase the efficiency and effectiveness of contract monitoring and help develop a long-term organizational memory.
