dc.description.abstract | Metropolitan Fragmentation, racial and class polarization, and segregation have influenced each other and shaped the availability of resources in American cities, including the quality of school food service. In this project I use accessible, publicly available data to map how polarization, race, class, and school lunch relate to each other spatially in the Austin MSA. Through visual comparative analysis, I find that there is a strong relationship between the spatial patterns of uneven school food service characteristics, and the patterns of polarization of white, black, and Hispanic residents and students. | |
