dc.description.abstract | My Chemical Imbalance is a play exploring my struggle with mental illness. In our world, mental illness has become a hot topic in traditional and social media. Stigmas associated with mental illness often prevent people from seeking the help they need, thinking they can handle the issues by themselves. I believe that sharing our stories around mental illness may encourage hesitant people to have the courage to seek help. I am one of many who have learned to become self-aware of my mental health needs. As I continue to live a fulfilling life, though the fix has not been quick, and the continual battle to regulate my medication is difficult, it has all proven to be worth every step of the journey. | |
