An exploratory study of burnout and coping strategies of traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation workers (N=29) using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Revised Ways of Coping Checklist (R WCC) revealed that these workers were experiencing moderate to high levels of burnout and were frequently using social support and problem-solving to cope. A bivariate correlation revealed a significant relationship between burnout and wishful thinking. The relationship may be the result of the MBI and RWCC measuring depression or depersonalization, a burnout factor, or the MBI being a coping strategy itself Possible implications to organizations and workers are discussed, as are suggestions for additional research.
