This poster presentation illustrates how an academic library reached the decision to build our own offsite archive and research center, and the inherent issues associated with meeting archival standards. While the site was being planned, the library team addressed archival concerns, including a quarantine area and storage for framed art and artifacts. One of the key components was software for use at the site that was compatible with the library's online catalog. Once preliminary issues were addressed, my cataloging unit was tasked with re-cataloging more than 33,000 special collection records, along with rehousing, preservation and removal to the offsite storage site.
