dc.description.abstractAlthough long assumed to be representations of mothers and their children, woman and child figurines from the Formative Period Central Mexican site of Tlatilco are more likely to be representations of mature women and children. These figurines served as mnemonic devices for the recall of complex information about agricultural rituals possibly involving infant sacrifice.en_US
