Worldwide, the rate of urbanization has increased over the last several decades and the need to adequately identify urban areas are used increases importance with every year. This study applies dynamic time warping and hierarchical clustering methods to a Bluetooth data set to identify functional urban regions in Austin, Texas. Examining the distribution of the functional urban regions and their spatial configuration allows inferences to be made in relation to the way that people use the urban area of Austin.
