dc.description.abstract | The Affordable Care Act of 2010 was passed to address the growing healthcare disparities in the United States. Many provisions of the law have only been implemented since 2014, and their impacts are continually being assessed. Women play critical roles in every civilization on Earth, yet often face adversity and discrimination in multiple realms, including the healthcare system. This essay examines the impacts the Affordable Care Act has had on women’s health thus far, and addresses existing healthcare disparities in the United States and their association with social determinants of health. | |
