dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to determine continuity of music theory instruction in Texas band students’ education and to discover how band directors at various levels of music education integrate music theory in their band classes. A survey was sent to middle and high school band directors, asking about their music theory instruction practices, and college music faculty were interviewed to determine expectations of incoming freshman music students. Observations from the author's teaching experiences were also discussed. | |
