dc.description.abstract | In an effort to meet the dual interests of developing a diverse cadre of quality police leaders while reducing mean subgroup differences in results, the use of the assessment center has emerged as a capable instrument and has grown in popularity over the last few decades. However, a gap in empirical research has been revealed. So, the current research focuses on how ACs impact outcomes of promotion process participants belonging to federally-protected classifications (race and sex) in four major Texas police departments, and how those outcomes change in the absence of the AC. | |
